Mazda Motor Corporation needed a new headquarters that reinforced the company’s human-centered approach to the design of their vehicles. They wanted an office space that reflected this new direction which is focused specifically around the user.
LPA designed five floors of office space for Mazda that concentrated on collaborative and social spaces. Located in a 17-story high-rise building, the interior design incorporates a combination of collaboration zones and private focus areas to provide employees a variety of spaces and allows individuals to choose their daily work environment. An ergonomic approach includes sit-to-stand adjustable workstations to encourage flexibility.
To reflect Mazda’s new branding direction, interior finishes such as lighting, materials and textures tie to the history of Mazda, as well as subtle Japanese influences were included in the 97,000-square-foot office space. Additionally, a hosted café for Mazda employees and a state-of-the-art multipurpose room is located on one of its floors to provide points for employee connection.
